Set the Tone Fitness was established in 2015 and serves Ripon and the surrounding area including Harrogate, Knaresborough, Mickley, Grantley, Grewelthorpe and Thirsk. Whatever your fitness level or capabilities, we have a class to suit you. We pride ourselves on our fun and varied classes. Don’t like the idea of group classes? We also offer 1-1 sessions and small group PT.
Exercise for everyone
One of my first roles after University was working as a mentor with Young Carers in Harrogate and then spent 6 months playing cricket in Australia.
On my return to Ripon I began working with adults with learning disabilities at Ripon Community Link for eight years. During this time, I began leading fitness classes for the wider community which was the very beginning of Set The Tone Fitness. These additional classes proved to be very popular and at this point I decided to pursue my love of personal training and work solely on Set The Tone Fitness.
In 2014, I qualified as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor with YMCA Fit and then as a Level 3 Personal Trainer in 2015. I continued my development in this industry by gaining a Boot Camp Leader & Group Training qualifications from Premier Global and I now lead Group Fitness sessions across seven venues.
I bring my experience and passion for fitness to every class and personal training session, and I thrive on encouraging my clients and helping them achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be.

Stu's passion for fitness and approachable nature makes Set the Tone Fitness an enjoyable and effective training experience that will get you results. He brings a broad depth of experience to every class and personal training session, and thrives on encouraging clients and helping them achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be.
Meet Caroline, the latest addition to the Set the Tone Fitness training team. Starting out as a client, Caroline found her passion and trained to be a PT. Caroline runs fun and sociable fitness classes that focus on inclusivity; all the exercises can be adapted to any need of fitness level!
Dr Jenny Alexanders
Jenny is a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist with over 16 years of clinical experience and who is trained at PhD level. As well as working with people who have degenerative conditions, acute injuries, postural or sports performance issues, Jenny also researches and publishes work in her respected field. Jenny uses an evidence based approach and combines manual therapy, acupuncture and exercise prescription to help patients achieve their goals.
